Munch Munch ("Munch Munch", "we", "us") helps you understand your eating habits by turning a photo of your meal into a friendly daily score. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We built Munch Munch to be light on your privacy footprint, and we keep this policy in plain language on purpose.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Meal photos you capture or select, and any corrections you make (for example, "smaller portion" or "that's not it").
- Account details if you sign in with Apple or Google — a unique identifier and, where you allow it, your email address. You can use Munch Munch as a guest without an account.
- Preferences such as detail level, reminder settings, day-start time, and timezone.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data needed to operate the app, such as app version, device type, and coarse diagnostics.
- Subscription status from the App Store or Google Play (via our payments provider, RevenueCat) — we do not receive your full payment card details.
2. How we use your information
- To analyze your meal photos with AI and calculate your Day Score, tips, and summaries.
- To keep your history in sync and restore your subscription across devices when you sign in.
- To send the reminders you enable, and to provide customer support.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the app's reliability.
3. AI processing of photos
Your meal photos are processed by automated food-recognition models to estimate what is on your plate and how it affects your daily balance. Photos are used to provide the service to you. We do not sell your photos, and we do not use your photos in advertising.
4. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers that help us run Munch Munch, under contract and only as needed:
- Cloud hosting and storage providers (to store photos and app data).
- AI processing providers (to analyze meal photos).
- RevenueCat and the app stores (to manage subscriptions).
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your photos, history, and Day Score data from our systems, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations. See Delete your account.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access & deletion — you can delete your account and associated data at any time from the app (Settings → Delete account) or via our deletion page.
- Permissions — camera and photo-library access are requested only when you add a meal, and can be changed in your device settings.
- Reminders — you can turn reminders off at any time in Settings.
- Depending on your region (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or port your data. Contact us to exercise them.
7. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.
8. Children
Munch Munch is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app.
